Recyclable vitrimer epoxy coatings for durable protection

نویسندگان

چکیده

In this research, the synthesis and application of vitrimer epoxy coatings for long-term corrosion protection metal surfaces are described. To that end, a polyamine curing agent based on vinylogous urethanes (VUs) was developed to add repairability, recyclability recoatability thermosetting materials. Thin films with excellent resistance water penetration damage could be obtained by combining dynamic hardener existing resins, resulting in good barrier properties. Various formulations were investigated yielding transparent durable protection, even after being scratched, exposed saltwater, subjected steam condensation. Furthermore, stress-relaxation experiments revealed sufficient material flow at 150 °C, which significantly slowed down below 100 °C. Optical microscopy used demonstrate healing ability coatings, restoration properties scratching. The resin recoat an aluminium plate as proof concept, demonstrating thin layer adhered surface again its cured state. As result, service life protected metals extended while maintaining mechanical properties, opening door wide range potential applications such marine concrete bonding.

Preparation and Evaluation of Epoxy-Clay Nanocomposite Coatings for Corrosion Protection

Polymer-clay nanocomposite coatings have attracted much attention because of impressive enhancements of coating properties. In this research, both commercially available and isophoronediamine-modified montmorillonite clays were used to obtain epoxy-clay nanocomposite coatings. These nanocomposite materials with different clay loadings in the form of coatings were applied to cold-rolled steel (C...

The Search for Durable Exterior Clear Coatings for Wood

The goal of a durable exterior clear coating has eluded generations of coatings technologists, despite long-standing desire amongst the public for such a coating. The journey towards this goal initially focused on modifications to coating formulation, but took a completely different direction when it was found that a UV-transparent silicone clear coating on wood modified with chromic acid met c...

Thermal properties of siliconized epoxy interpenetrating coatings

This work involves the development of a novel siliconized epoxy interpenetrating coating system using epoxy resin as base, hydroxylterminated polydimethylsiloxane (HTPDMS) as modifier, -aminopropyltriethoxysilane ( -APS) as crosslinking agent and dibutyltindilaurate (DBTDL) as catalyst. Polyamidoamine and aromatic polyamine adduct were used as curing agents for the above coating systems. The th...

Effect of Montmorillonite Nanogel Composite Fillers on the Protection Performance of Epoxy Coatings on Steel Pipelines.

Montmorillonite (MMT) clay mineral is widely used as filler for several organic coatings. Its activity is increased by exfoliation via chemical modification to produce nanomaterials. In the present work, the modification of MMT to form nanogel composites is proposed to increase the dispersion of MMT into epoxy matrices used to fill cracks and holes produced by the curing exotherms of epoxy resi...
